Why Small Groups?
At Hayward Wesleyan we believe that God created us specifically for relationships. Both a relationship with Himself and one another is part of God’s original design for man. Because of sin, we are no longer in a right relationship with God and one another, and therefore have a tendency to hide and even shun authentic community.

A large part of placing our faith in God has to do with the restoration and renewal of ALL relationships that we once alienated ourselves from. So, at Hayward Wesleyan Church we lovingly embrace community along with all its quirks, imperfections and brokenness. We believe that God has reconciled us to Himself, not only for our own benefit, but for the benefit of one another. Through restored relationships God is using us our lives corporately to make a difference in this world.

We believe that small group communities provide a natural environment for these sorts of relationships to develop. Within small groups we learn the importance of having brothers and sisters who encourage us, challenge us and share life with us. We also learn the discipline of bearing with one another as we continue to seek God as imperfect people. Today more than ever we are need of finding intimate relationships with others who can help us devote our lives to God and develop our character. Small Groups provide an outlet for these type of relationships to take place.

Our vision for small groups is that we become people dedicated to one another who are becoming fully devoted and fully developing followers of Jesus.
