The Vision of hwcYouth is…
…to participate, in partnership with parents, in the story God is revealing and weaving in the lives of students as they live and bear witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Goal of hwcYouth is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Mission of hwcYouth is to teach, partner, and challenge.
We accomplish the goal and vision by teaching students the Bible, partnering with parents and small group leaders to disciple and spiritually challenge our youth, and connecting through intentional activities to build Christlike character and community.
We dump our storyline for God’s storyline. We join His program for our lives and surrender our own ideas. We lose ourselves in Christ. By allowing God to change and reorder our lives, through walking in His ways, our community is slowly and redemptively remade and reordered.
- by teaching the Bible/Word of God
- by teaching the Gospel story and how it weaves all throughout Scripture
- by teaching how to live like Jesus and follow his commands
- by teaching students to saturate their lives with God’s Word
- by teaching biblical wisdom
- through partnering, connecting, interacting, and actively (even silently…) teaching parents
- by partnering with a mature, Gospel-centered and equipped leader who is modeling his/her life in an incarnational way
- through partnering with parents/leaders to provide wise, biblical discipline, encouragement and support
- by connecting with where students are at (developmentally, spiritually, relevance)
- by connecting through small groups and their peers (socially, communally)
- by connecting through events/activities which give leaders and parents audience and the raw material to model walking in His ways (play, fun)

Followers is a ministry program with students who are in grades K-2 (Junior Followers) and grades 3-5 (Followers). This ministry began and continues with a heart towards reaching students younger than traditional church youth groups. Prayerfully, through the Followers program,
students begin and develop a relationship with Jesus and are discipled to permeate their community with the Gospel.
Followers meet together every other Monday after school from 3:15-5:00pm (see Calendar Tab for schedule).
The church provides transportation from the Hayward Primary and Intermediate Schools to the church and parents provide transportation home. During these after school meetings, the students play games, have a light snack, pray, sing songs, learn a story from the Bible, participate in small groups, and understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus.Register for Followers
