Feed Your Brain // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

“Mommy, my tummy hurts!” a little boy complained to his mother.

“That’s because it’s empty.” Mother replied, “You need to put something in it.”

Sure enough, after a bologna sandwich and a couple of carrot sticks, his tummy didn’t hurt any more.

Later on that day, the minister came to visit.

As he entered the house, he declared, “I don’t feel so well today. I have a headache.”

To this, the little boy replied, “Momma says that’s because it’s empty and you need to put something in it!”

Ah — maybe the little fellow had a point. Your brain is a marvelous gift from God, but it won’t do you much good unless you put something in it.

Brains are meant to be used. That gray matter living in your skull has an ordained purpose. You shouldn’t let it just sit there. Put something in it!

Now, it’s important to be discriminating with the material you put in your brain.

There’s a lot of mental “junk food” out there that merely fills our minds with puff, fizzle and froth — with no substance.

Instead of mental junk food, why not go on a healthy mental diet. Think faith-inspiring thoughts. Read uplifting books. Only watch TV. shows or movies with a positive, redeeming quality (that eliminates about 90% of them.)

Feed your brain, and it will enrich the rest of your life.
