When at First You Don’t Succeed, Think Again! // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage, “If at first you don’t succeed, try again.”

Well, I have a better one for you: If at first you don’t succeed, THINK again!

Why do I say Think Again rather than Try Again?

It’s simply because if you do the same thing in the same way, you will just end up getting the same result — failure!

Before you start trying again, it would really pay off to stop for a minute and use that gray matter between ears. Think!

Try, try again will lead to frustration and burnout.
Think, think again — and you will discover many amazing and new opportunities!

If at first you don’t succeed, think again . . . about why the first time failed. What did you do wrong? What did you fail to consider? What did you leave out?

If at first you don’t succeed, think again . . . about the end result. Is there a better way to reach the same (or even greater) goal?

If at first you don’t succeed, think again . . . about the lessons you learned from your first goof up. There is really no such thing as a failure, if you learn something from it. Then, a royal mess up is simply a valuable learning experience!

If at first you don’t succeed, think again . . . about your motives. Why am I trying to do this in the first place? Is it worth the effort? Is my intent right? Are my motives pure?

If at first you don’t succeed, think again . . . and again . . . and again, Look at it from every angle. Take the situation and turn it inside out, upside down and backwards. A new view will give you fresh perspective.

Think, think again — and your new thoughts will carry you to greater heights.

A brain, stretched by a new idea, will never shrivel back to its original proportions.
