Working Hard is Hard Work // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

“Genius,” stated Thomas Edison, “is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

If you want to rise above the ordinary and take your life to the next level, you must not be afraid of hard work.

I recently spoke with a man who supervised hundreds of employees. He made an interesting observation: “A hard-working employee without much ability is worth ten multi-talented workers who put in the bare minimum.”

Oh, how true it is. One person with “extra-mile” passion will accomplish more than one hundred with mere interest.

Ah, but working hard is hard work! That’s the reason why so few people do it.

Instead of rolling up our sleeves and making progress, we are tempted to slag and make excuses.

Excuses are easier to get than results.

The path to extraordinary living, however, requires moving beyond the petty excuses and our temptations towards slothfulness.

Here’s how you know you are on the road to success — it’s uphill all the way!
