Jutitsu Life! // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

Jutitsu is a Japanese style of wrestling in which the strength of an opponent is used against him.

With this in mind, here’s an idea for you. Whenever problems surround — use jutitsu! Take those problems and turn them on themselves.

My friend, Tim Elmore, once said, “If you have a problem in life, you can nurse it, you can rehearse it, or you can reverse it!”

Nurse your problem and it will only get bigger.

Rehearse your problem and you will get bitter.

Reverse your problem and things will get better.

Yes, when troubles come, use jutitsu! Reverse them. Things can turn around for you — they really can!

When faced with a tough situation, you have two options. You can mope around and complain about how terrible things are, or you can go to work looking for a solution.

If you look for a solution, you will find it. Even in the darkest night, you can rest assured that the sun will rise again. As Psalm 30:5 says, “Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.”

Don’t let your troubles get the best of you. You can rise above them.

The first chapter of James (in the Bible) states, “Is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow and don’t try to squirm out of your problems.”

You can use hard times as stepping stones to bigger and better things. Difficulties can sharpen and polish you. Wisdom comes through enduring hardships.

Regardless of how terrible your situation may be, look up! Things will get better.

Things will work out all right with God’s help.

Indeed, he is the one who can help us reverse our problems. “With God all things are possible!”
