Thanksgiving Means Feasting” // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

Thanksgiving means feasting: turkey, cranberries and pumpkin pie.

Thanksgiving means connecting: family and friends reconnecting.

Thanksgiving means football: Detroit Lions losing another game.

Thanksgiving means kindness: donations to food shelves, joyfully helping others in need.

Thanksgiving means hunting: blaze orange and the buck stops here!

Thanksgiving means shopping: What does Aunt Matilda really need?

But far more than all of these, Thanksgiving means what it says!

It means giving thanks! It means having a grateful heart. It means a declaration of war on self pity.

Thanksgiving is an annual reminder of how we are supposed to live every day.

So, what’s your TQ — your Thanksgiving Quotient?

1. Are you counting your blessings instead of your burdens?
2. Are you focusing on what’s right rather than what’s wrong?
3. Are you a VEP (Very Encouraging Person) rather than a VDP (Very Draining Person)?
4. Is your life ruled primarily by faith or frustration?

The secret to happiness is maintaining a thankful heart. Discontent is poison, and it drains all the joy away. If you can nurture the spirit of gratefulness, you will automatically enjoy living and appreciate the special gifts each day brings.

Come, ye thankful people come. Raise the song of harvest home.
All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin.
God our Maker doth provide for our wants to be supplied.
Come to God’s own temple, come. Raise the song of harvest home.
