What is Your Dream? // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

What is your dream? What is your vision? What do you want to accomplish with your life? How are you going to change your world?

I often ask young people what they want do after they get out of school. The answer is usually something like this, “Well, hmmmm, er, uh, ummm, I dunno.”

Then, I ask another question, “What would you do if nothing could hold you back?”

“If nothing could hold me back?!” Suddenly, their eyes sparkle as they come alive with exciting visions, hopes, and dreams for the future.

“Go for it!”, I urge them, “I believe in you!”

Somehow, we have come up with the crazy notion that great accomplishments are reserved for other people — not ordinary individuals like us. We don’t seem to realize that we are just as extraordinary as anybody else! There’s no real “magic” in achieving success, just a definite vision, hard work, and bull dog determination.

You can accomplish your greatest dreams if you are willing to pay the price. The future is yours!

One hundred years ago, Mr. Charles Duell, director of the U.S. Patent Office, said, “Everything that can be invented has already been invented.”

Sorry Charlie!

Today, may people seem to carry that same attitude, but they are dead wrong.

The greatest inventions are yet to be made.
The greatest songs are yet to be sung.
The greatest cures are yet to be discovered.
The greatest frontiers are yet to be explored.

These accomplishments will occur only through women and men who have a driving vision of the future. You can be one of these “movers and shakers” if you are willing to pay the price.

“Lives of great men all remind us we can make our lives sublime, and, departing, leave behind us footprints in the sands of time.” — Longfellow
