20 Mistakes People Make in Relationships // Positively Speaking // Mark Wilson

1. Loving opinions more than people.
2. Imputing negative motives onto others (i.e. “he did that because he hates me!”).
3. Believing that love means never having to say, “I’m sorry”.
4. Thinking that love is a feeling (love is far more than feelings – love is a commitment, a decision, a gift. Feelings can come and go, but the commitment can remain strong and steady).
5. Failing to let go of hurts and resentments (bitterness poisons the soul).
6. Not listening.
7. Taking others for granted.
8. Being dishonest.
9. Closing down the heart to avoid hurt (it keeps love out too).
10. Forgetting to express appreciation and gratitude.
11. Thinking you are better than others.
12. Thinking others are better than you.
13. Comparing and competing with others.
14. Emphasizing flaws and shortcomings (faults are thick where love is thin.)
15. Refusing to take personal responsibility.
16. Attempting to manipulate and control everything.
17. Waiting for someone else to read your mind.
18. Griping about people about their back (gossiping, badmouthing, criticizing).
19. Quitting when things get tough.
20. Forgetting that all true love comes from God (not from yourself).
