God Rescues Lot

God Rescues Lot

012 Gospel Story for Kids | Main Street @ hwc

The Story

Abraham’s nephew, Lot, gets himself into trouble. You see, he parked his tent near a couple of wicked cities called Sodom and Gomorrah. It wasn’t very long that he was drawn into the city and became a prominent city member. God was going to destroy these wicked cities, so He sent a couple of angels to rescue Lot and his family.

Teaching Points

  1. Sin is a serious thing.
  2. We should not delay to obey.
  3. God will judge all sin.

The Gospel

Even if there is a slight hint that someone will repent, God will always go for redemption and rescue. God isn’t out to judge and destroy the world because He’s mad at us. For instance, later in Scripture, in the story of the Exodus from Egypt, God gives Pharaoh ten chances to repent and let His people go. But each time, Pharaoh hardened his heart.

In this instance, there weren’t any citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah, save for Lot and his family, who wanted to repent of their wickedness, thus the subsequent destruction, but the rescue of Lot and his family.
