Summer Sermon Series, “Exiles”

ex·ile: noun \ˈeg-ˌzī(-ə)l, 1. a state of being forced away from one’s country or home.

As 21st century followers of Christ, living in America we find ourselves less at home in our culture than previous generations.  The truths of God that were once taken for granted in America are rapidly eroding as the world we once knew shifts from under our feet.  We find ourselves increasingly aware that this world is not our home.

Frightened, angry, alone and dislocated,  we can relate to the world of exile.  The good news is that the Bible is essentially a story about exiles… it instructs us how to live faithfully while living in a foreign land, and offers the hope of one day returning home.
